Junior Seau’s apparent suicide this week was all the more haunting because there was speculation a year ago that linebacker, a certain Hall-of-Famer, displayed disturbing signs of being affected by the thousands of hits to the head in his 20 years in the National Football League. Now the NFL must do all it can to determine whether Seau was a victim of too many concussions, and decide what can be done to spare other players.
