Four Mass. incumbents merit new House terms

In this election cycle, two US House races — the hotly contested Sixth District and the open seat in the Fourth District — have drawn most of the attention. But there are four other congressional races in Massachusetts in which a Democratic incumbent faces Republican opposition. Some of these challengers have much to offer, but in each case the incumbent has the edge.

Congressman James McGovern is the best of the MA Congressional delegation. There is no other that comes close to McGovern for integrity, work ethic, commitment to democratic principles, concern for and responsiveness to the the people he represents and love of country. McGovern is doing the seemingly impossible, he's giving public service a good name. I wish he were my congressman...If we could only clone McGovern!

Thank you for not supporting McGovern. He, together with the Lt. Governor and former Mayor of Worcester, lead the so-called "Shamrock Club" - the machine that dominates Worcester city politics and has resulted in a deterioration of the quality of life in the city. Building Taj Mahal projects at taxpayer expense is countered by the terrible schools, and arogant public officials getting high pay and benefits, while the downtrodden citizenry suffer for basic services. Professionals working in Worcester, whether in business, education, or medical, flee the city at 5pm to the suburbs - where their kids go to good safe schools and live in safety. Even many city workers live outside the crime-ridden city for the same reason. The Globe should join the Feds in investigating the spreading Worcester public housing scandal, just like the Globe did in Chelsea. As one recalls, the Lt. Governor and former Mayor of Worcester was involved in the Chelsea scandal according to the Globe. The Congressman has spent years getting Federal money (PORK) for the city. Was he involved in the HUD money recently cut off by the Feds due to the housing scandal! Please investigate. Maybe a reformer will challenge McGovern in the next election and give us a choice for Congressman.

Some of these folks have been in office a very long time. I don't see a lot of benefit to us from these long terms. Let's get some new blood, new energy, leadership.
