The Boy Scouts are being seared by yet another blistering wave of publicity, this time over last week’s release of secret files on 1,247 alleged child-molesting scout leaders from the 1960s through the ‘80s. By the Boy Scouts of America’s own admission, more than a third of allegations in the files were never reported to police. The BSA deserves whatever shame and setttlement costs to come for coddling abusers in the past. But there is be a deeper, current story more favorable to the BSA.
