Tea Party scare tactics doom disabled treaty in Senate

Twenty-two years ago, the United States passed landmark legislation forbidding discrimination against people with disabilities. That law put the United States at the forefront of the global struggle for equal treatment for the disabled. It inspired a United Nations treaty that encourages countries to pass similar measures.

What you have to understand is that there exists a segment of this country that are truly unhinged. They have been listening to any number of right-wing conspiracy theorists yammer-on about black helicopters. Helicopters and possibly spaceships full of untrustworthy alien men ready to take away all of their children and land. Time to hide all of those burlap bags full-o-freedom and wooden chests full-o-liberty they have hidden in their back yards.

Ted Nugent on a popsicle stick. These lunatics in Congress are actually worried about losing their jobs to candidates who will attack them from the right. "Yes, yew 'erd me correct. Your'n ee'lected rep-ree-sentative ack-chur-a-lee voted fer a bill that sa-ported the yew-en!"

I agree with every word you say.  The new element seems to be that the fringe is finding people to represent them in elected office -- and they're affecting policy and legislation.

I know saying this is axiomatic, but there is something seriously wrong -- I mean seriously wrong with the Tea Party.

Nobody should spend 28 years in the Senate (or the house). Term limits would solve so many problems.

Term liits sometimes may mean firing the  folks with the most experience.  If someone is not representing the needs of the voters, then vote them out!

The South strikes again!  This obstructionist campaign joins a long list of Southern opposition against minority rights, equality for women, gay marriage and other progressive proposals.  The world must be laughing again.

Just when is this threatened secession getting underway?  We are all waiting...Imagine the kind of country we could have without the South!

Let's hear it for the new Confederacy!  Secession now!

A "DISABLED" Treaty? Are you kidding me?

How about the THOUSANDS of people in Syria who are more than "Disabled". They're DEAD! And plenty more will be dead if Bashir Assad uses Sarin gas? And how many more people will be dead if Iran uses its PLUTONIUM that it failed to return to Russia? Where's our Commander in Chief? I believe that he said that "if Assad uses his chemical weapons there will be severe consequences". Well Assad sees that Obama is much more concerned with redistributing income in the US than working on some annoying foreign policy.

This article is absolute TRIVIA compared to what is REALLY happening right now in the Middle East. Why does the Globe refuse to report the news?

Let's hope that the voters will keep track of who voted for or against which bills, and fire the idiocracy in the 2014 elections. This is an embarrassment.  The puppetmasters got these brainless idiologues into Congress by outspending the opposition with atrocious attack ad campaigns.  Enough! Throw the bums out!

Senator Brown and Governor Romney need to look no further than this article to understand why they lost. The crazies have taken over the Republican party.
