Consider impact of revamping Harvard campus center

The Globe’s report on plans for building a new campus center at Holyoke Center in Cambridge should have related the building’s significant history (“Harvard is set to build campus center,” Metro, Nov. 15). The building was designed by the firm led by Jose Luis Sert, a world-class architect, and was a significant, and controversial, modernist addition to Harvard Square. The impact of the proposed renovation on the original design and on Harvard Square should be the subject of public discussion by the City of Cambridge, the design community, and the Globe.
