Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was banned for life from the NBA Tuesday for making racist comments.

It is rare when a single person can provoke our society to unequivocally unite (“Outcry rises over words linked to NBA owner: Obama, teams deplore racist views,” Page A1, April 28). The odious nature of the ignorant comments made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling have achieved this. Thanks to Sterling for helping us openly tell each other how disgusted we are with such hateful and hurtful ideas. Thanks for showing us what we will not tolerate. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to unite against racism.
