Like other fanatics, atheists come down from on high

RE “HAIL Mary passer’’ (Sports, Dec. 13): I don’t care one way or the other about the controversy over Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow and his “outward display of his Christian faith,’’ in which he kneels on the field with his head bowed. But the quote from David Silverman, president of American Atheists, just reminded me how atheists, like other religious fanatics, want to control everything.

Silverman said, “He has the right constitutionally to do it. Having said that, it’s inappropriate. People don’t watch football to watch someone pray.’’

Live and let live is still a wonderful principle.
