GOP had right idea on payroll tax

REPUBLICANS DID the impossible last week by making Democrats look good even though the GOP was right in its stance on the payroll tax debate ( “House GOP yields on tax cut,’’ Page A1, Dec. 23). The party that wanted to extend the payroll benefit for a full year to provide stability for 160 million Americans loses the argument and the battle for public opinion? Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans capitulated to the “kick the issue down the road’’ Democrats basically because Christmas was near. The liberal cheerleading media are also to blame for failing to report payroll companies’ concerns that the two-month extension is not viable. The media and all the phony players one and all should be ashamed, but they will be back again soon to rehash this whole charade.
