The ol’ white, red, and blue

MY FAMILY thinks I am nuts to have noticed this, but the picture on Page A9 of the Sunday Globe on Jan.y 8, 2012 confirmed what I thought I saw on the televised Republican candidates’ debate Saturday night. The podiums for the candidates were identical in their design, with three vertical columns on each: one red, one white, and one blue. The red and blue columns flanked the central white column. Not surprisingly, the red column was taller than the blue, but the white column was the tallest of the three.

I was left wondering all evening which Republican strategist may have approved that message.
