Santorum has a point when he says Obama apologized for America

SCOT LEHIGH astutely notes that misinformation has been running amok in the Republican campaigns ( “Campaign absurdity time,’’ Op-ed, Jan. 6). But he’s wrong when he says that Rick Santorum has no support for the candidate’s claim that Barack Obama traveled the world apologizing for America.

While the fact-checkers have found no such apology, many of us recall the multiple speeches Obama made early in his administration strongly suggesting that, unlike the previous administration, his would listen to our friends, include and consult allies in foreign policy affairs, and not be a cowboy president. Although the president didn’t use the words “I apologize,’’ it was clear that he was doing so.
