Child abuse is everywhere. Money and "living in a nice", read wealthy community, cannot protect your child. Teach your child to trust the inner feeling of "this is weird". When your child doesn't feel like hugging Aunt Jane or cousin Ben - don't make him/her do it. Encourage your child to converse with adults you know. It will help your child have the experience and judgement to report a "weird feeling". Don't automatically assume it is okay to leave your child with a "great" youth conductor or "the best soccer coach". Use your own radar too. And this is the hardest - don't panic your child. If your child is just generally afraid of every adult, his/her ability to ascertain safety will be impared.
