Greater funding for the disabled ought to unite us all

RE “A birthday wish for James’’ (Op-ed, Jan. 29): Joan Vennochi makes a compelling case for continuing state support for severely developmentally disabled young adults. It is a disgrace that we as a state and as a nation devote so few resources to help support those most in need.

This is an issue that should unite both social and fiscal conservatives and liberal Democrats. Increasing funding to a reasonable level is justifiable fiscally and would help all of our citizens reach their highest potential. Isn’t that the dream that all of us have for our children?
