letters | controversy over contraception

Catholic parishioners have made their own birth-control choice

I WONDER if we will ever see this statement from the Catholic Church: “In order to follow our conscience, we will no longer accept any money from any of our parishioners who practice contraception. Our conscience dictates that we not accept any support from these people because it aligns us with them and consequently compromises our beliefs.’’

They won’t make that statement because it would end them financially in America.

Their conscience allows them to take money from people who practice contraception; it just doesn’t let them give it back.
