Bruins goalie doesn’t speak for this former parochial student

RE “THOMAS of the Bruins opposes US birth control rule’’ (Metro, Feb. 9): I have 13 years of parochial school under my belt, and Tim Thomas certainly does not stand with me. The Catholic Church and other religious and so-called faith-based organizations have gotten away with way too much, and continue to. These entities want to have it two ways - one, influence public policy while remaining tax-exempt, and two, remain autonomous from public or governmental rule.

It is time to expose the hypocrites for who they are. As for Thomas, he should instead invoke Martin Niemoller’s quote (“First they came for the . . .’’) in defense of a woman’s right to choose.
