After reading Brian McGrory’s screed against bicyclists last summer, and his more recent lamentation over the lack of on-street parking in downtown Boston (“Mayor’s war against cars,” Metro, June 20), I am really beginning to feel for the guy. While I can’t solve McGrory’s parking problems, or remove bicyclists from the streets of Boston, I’d be happy to help him through the process of getting a Charlie Card, a Hubway membership, or a good pair of walking shoes.
I’m sure that both his mobility and his mood would improve, and he might even write a couple of good columns on the perils of right-hooking vehicles, or the pleasures of strolling through the most walkable city in the country.

Or perhaps we can provide him with a one way ticket to Detroit where he'll find a plentiful supply of free parking, and virtually no accommodation for transit, cycling, or pedestrians. It's quite a charming environment let me tell ya!
