Medical device firm stands ready for what law brings

I am the founder, owner, and chief executive of a small medical device company in Massachusetts. We have 55 employees. We offer generous medical and dental insurance and pay a large share of the premiums. In his June 29 op-ed “Law doesn’t help Massachusetts — or nation,” Senator Scott Brown says that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is a job killer because of the tax on the medical device industry. With all due respect, I must say that he is playing politics.

I cannot imagine a responsible manager of a small business refusing to grow out of fear of paying taxes. If my company can grow profitably through good management and dedicated employees, we will welcome that growth and accept the taxes owed.

Brown is welcome to visit our company any time he wishes to see how a real small business can flourish while acknowledging the importance of our place in society.
