ARAM BOGHOSIAN FOR THE BOSTON GLOBE

Outgoing headmaster Sito Narcisse spoke at English High’s graduation last month.

RE “A hard lesson: change can come too fast” (Page A1, June 24): Your story about English High School has omitted some key facts. There are pockets of academic excellence, especially in the school’s Advanced Placement courses. I tutored the AP US History class, and found the students alert, attentive, and extremely bright, with the seniors going on to college.

Please remember that we are not an exam school, and English High still represents a path to college for those who are late bloomers, as I was. English High will not go gently into that good night. It will continue to improve until it is once again one of the premier non-exam schools in America.
