Idea that Tierney knew of illegal gambling ring just doesn’t add up

MOST EVERYONE who knows Representative John Tierney would agree that he wouldn’t take a chance on ruining his career (“Tierney denies in-laws’ claims,” Page A1, July 4). If he had known about the gambling ring that the his brothers-in-law were involved in, he would know that they would eventually get caught and exposed and he would be implicated along with them.

It stretches credulity to believe the word of two criminals that Tierney “knew everything,” since knowing and not telling about their illegal enterprise would mean he would join them in jail. He’s too experienced a politician and too smart a person to put himself in such a dangerous position.
