OVER THE past four years I have resented greatly the hijacking of “patriotism” and “love of country” by the Tea Partiers, and their denigration of the rest of us for supposedly not equaling their love and appreciation of America.
Scott Lehigh’s stirring proposal, in his July 4 column, of a promenade of the presidents here is in keeping with our rich history in Massachusetts, so often taken for granted. It would honor those with Massachusetts roots who have led the country.
Equally important, it will serve as a learning tool for children and a heartfelt reminder to all of us of the value of unselfish public service.
Where do we sign up to help make the promenade a reality?
