REPRESENTATIVE BARNEY Frank’s marriage makes me smile — for two reasons (“Quietly, Barney Frank ties the knot,” Metro, July 8).
First, I’m happy to see this warrior of the left finally settling down as his public career nears an end. He has surely earned his repose.
And second, I smile at his contribution to the embattled institution of marriage itself. If, after all the public scorn and ridicule from a small but vocal minority of the public, this man’s faith in matrimony remains strong enough to tie the knot, what a powerful public nod to those many nervous young people who are wary of making such a commitment.
