In her July 19 op-ed “The hostage-freeing senator is . . . ,” Joan Vennochi quoted the Rev. Eugene F. Rivers III as saying, about Senator Scott Brown, “He saw the opportunity and he got all over it” and “Scott Brown was the first guy to the party.”
It’s interesting that anyone, let alone a clergyman, would describe a crisis over a kidnapping as an “opportunity” and a “party.”
