If Mayor Menino fails in his courageous and noble attempt to prevent Chick-fil-A from profiting on our Freedom Trail, despite the company president’s opposition to same-sex marriage, then we lesbians and gays should stage an old-fashioned love-in at the restaurant’s opening. This gathering should be complete with lots of kisses and drag queens, along with a big banner: “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.” We used this banner to face the hateful signs of the Westboro Baptist Church at the first Massachusetts same-sex marriages in Cambridge.
