Reckless saber-rattling toward Iran

Mitt Romney’s recent speech in Israel was a shameful pastiche of accusatory half-truths about Iran, echoing the worst misinformation (“In Jerusalem, Romney vows strong support,” Page A1, July 30). This was a new level of pandering to the right wing in both Israel and the United States.

Romney seems to be practically calling for a military attack on Iran. In fact, he has all but pre-authorized such an attack, while implying that the United States wouldn’t necessarily participate. This is both reckless and cowardly.
