An alternative to gas and charcoal: electric grill

Regarding your July 28 editorial “Urban grilling: A sizzling business opportunity”: A solution to the safety problem of gas and charcoal grills has existed for years. It’s called an electric grill.

These don’t seem to be as common in Massachusetts as they are in condominium communities in Florida. Many gated communities in Florida require that only electric grills be used; hence, they are available at most hardware stores there.

Electric grills originally were believed to be slow to cook. Modern designs provide adequate heat without the inherent danger of gas flame or hot charcoal.
