We’re a nation weighed down by debt

It would seem that simple economics is missing from the political scene.

In a TV commercial, Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren is comparing US spending on infrastructure unfavorably to that of China. Perhaps Warren hasn’t taken into account that China profits from buying our bonds, while interest we pay on our bond debt restricts US spending.

Simple conclusions such as these evade politicians continually. It might be time to replace the term “tax and spend” with “borrow and spend.”
