Carolina dog was a Mass. family’s best friend

Regarding Jennifer Graham’s op-ed on Carolina dogs (“Keep your jackal-dogs in Carolina,” Aug. 5), I write not to make provocative generalities, but to say that in 75 years of hanging out with canines, the finest, best family dog of all was a Carolina, adopted as a puppy from a Georgia pound and brought to Massachusetts.

Dignified, gentle, sweet-tempered, and beautiful, our Carolina dog would have changed Graham’s opinion had she had the good fortune to know her.
