Interesting article on the difficult childhood of Senator Scott Brown (“A lost boy, seared by abuse, he somehow found his way,” Page A1, Aug. 5). But while his is a compelling story, it’s not all that different from the ongoing stories of countless children in the United States today. It’s curious that such experiences led Brown to cast his political lot in with the modern-day Republican Party, whose policies and philosophy benefit the affluent and privileged at the expense of the unfortunate and underprivileged.
Despite Brown’s advertising that he is bipartisan, he frequently votes in lockstep with the right. His reelection would only serve to further the agenda of those who have dedicated their time and energy to blocking or reversing the social, economic, and environmental progress our nation so desperately needs.
