The Globe’s editorial justifying the mailing of voter forms to aid recipients is misguided (“Mass. is justified in mailing voting forms to aid recipients,” Aug. 10). The mailing is just another attempt by liberal government to convince aid recipients that they have to remain dependent upon government for their guidance and welfare and that they cannot think for themselves.
It would have much been more fair had Elizabeth Warren’s daughter, who chairs the board at advocacy organization Demos, pushed to have such a letter sent to every taxpayer in Massachusetts, rather than just single out the group to whom these letters were sent.
Isn’t the responsibility of government to encourage all voters to vote rather than to pick and choose groups that need encouragement?
