Performances on field pale next to feats of egotism

I completely agree with Jeff Jacoby’s Aug. 15 Op-ed column “Where’s the humility?” Some athletes’ comments about their athletic performance are unnecessary, and reek of conceit and egotism. In addition, sprinter Usain Bolt’s comment that he is “the greatest athlete to live” is preposterous.

Regardless, there is one thing that is clear: Their narcissism both exceeds and diminishes their athletic performance.
