letters | russia’s crackdown on a punk band

How would punk band members like it if opponents disrupted their concerts?

I SAY good for Russia for arresting these hooligans, whose interruption of a church service has been defended in the name of free speech. Try such “free speech” on them while they’re recording or performing, and see if they practice what they preach.

If you knew the history of Punk Rock you would know that many shows were shut down by the Police. To this day shows are shut down.

So if I interrupt a punk rock concert the band is going to sentence me to jail for two years?

They used to tell the counter-culture back in the sixties, "if you don't like it here, you should go live in Russia!" Perhaps you should consider doing the same. Disrupting a church service here would mean maybe a disturbing the peace misdemeanor fine, not a heavy prison sentence. Hope you like borscht, Paulie...
