Badge loses value if you can’t wear it with pride

RE Eagle Scouts use badges to decry gay ban” (Metro, Aug. 27): If I had a grandson who had earned his Eagle Scout badge, I would be proud. If I had a grandson who returned his Eagle Scout badge and resigned from the Boy Scouts of America because he thought they were treating gay people unjustly, I would be REALLY proud.

Any badge or trophy is valuable only if you respect the ideals of the ones awarding it.
