BU hockey coach should be fired

RE “BU’S hockey culture faulted: Report finds sense of ‘sexual entitlement,’ ” (Page A1, Sept. 6): I find it unbelievable that, after the task force report on the behavior of the Boston University hockey team behavior, Jack Parker was only asked to step down as executive athletic director but allowed to keep his position as men’s hockey coach.

He recruited these players, presumably judging not only their slap shot but the type of young men they were. As hockey coach, it was his responsibility to curb their sense of entitlement and moral lapses.

Firing Parker may appease some for a while but it is meaningless unless the NCAA is dispanded.  Colleges are running a minor league sports empire.  It's high time we face reality that there in the NCAA there are no "student" athletes, only profit centers wearing the schools' colors.
