If convicted, chemist deserves harsh judgment

The scale of alleged wrongdoing by Annie Dookhan is mind-boggling (“Former state chemist arrested in drug scandal,” Page A1, Sept. 29). I view false imprisonment as among the highest of crimes. Rather than a paltry 10-year sentence, if convicted, a more Solomonic judgment would be that she serve one year for every year wrongly served by each of the defendants whose cases she affected. Based on the metric of just those released to date, that would be a long time, indeed.
