Incumbent’s failings owed to lack of background in business

The first presidential debate made it clear to me why Mitt Romney will be a better president than Barack Obama: Romney understands the implications of the laws, such as Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, and tax laws, on businesses and on job creation, while Obama does not.

Obama, who has no business background, has surrounded himself with advisers who largely have academic backgrounds. Obama’s team tends to think about issues idealistically, and has no concept of the impact of their decisions on the American business community.

Horse manure. Politics is about enacting and enforcing sensible laws. Business is irrelevant to that.

just like passing the Obamacare bill without reading it per Nancy Pelosi and saying we will find out what is in it after it passes.....how dumb is that.   How many unions have requested waivers because they cannot afford this new bill?   How many new taxes 21 and taxing medical devices....more cost to that new knee (if the 15 panel commissioners allow you to have one).

It's not possible to enact and enforce sensible laws and policies without understanding economics.  Economic analysis allows one to determine the cost-effectiveness of policies and their full consequences.  We always hear about unintended consequences but they are not enexpected consequences if one understands economics.  The United States is the largest, most complex organization in the world.  To run it properly requires understanding business and the economy.  Our president is our CEO and I, for one, want a president who is capable and well versed in economics, finance, business, management, and negotiation.  One who knows how to think on his feet and exercise leadership.

Romney's business experience boils down to this: Borrow money to buy up companies, force those companies to make major cuts, reap profits, and then leave the company to pay off all the debt.

I'll stick with the academics, thanks.

good, because Pres. Obama's failures show his academics actions and how is that working especially adding $6 trillion in 4 yrs to the deficit.

article is right on, without some kind of business background or even running a state as a governor where budgets must be balance etc. shows the dismal record of this administration.

Business is about making profits for owners, some of which are stockholders. Business is not concerned with "the people" beyond selling them stuff at a profit.

Government, on the other hand, is a non-profit creature by and for the people. It's purpose is to provide security to the citizens.

Business and government coexist, but anyone who thinks they're not wholly different entities with different needs and goals needs to should further their education.
