Valentine never got a fair shake

I enjoy Boston sports media. I appreciate the insights and wit of the writers and commentators. But I think the media were especially hard on Bobby Valentine, this year’s Red Sox manager, from day one.

It was ugly. How does one feel good about himself when someone asks him daily about when he’s getting fired?

As for the players: I’m still a huge fan, but what kind of players rebel at extra drills? That was ugly, too.

Valentine didn’t give the cute sound bites, but he deserved better.
