With makeup of Supreme Court at stake, Brown makes voter wary

Columnist Tom Keane (“A Brown-style GOP,” Op-ed, Oct. 7) gives Senator Scott Brown the benefit of the doubt, saying he “doesn’t subscribe to the GOP platform when it comes to social issues such as abortion.” Nevertheless, when asked during public debate for his model Supreme Court justice, a question for which he apparently had not prepared, Brown first chose Antonin Scalia, which perhaps speaks much more to Brown’s core beliefs than anything the senator has said during this campaign.

The thrust of Brown’s recent ad campaign has been to insinuate that Elizabeth Warren can’t be trusted. Given that the next confirmations to the Supreme Court may have a profound effect on the nation for generations to come, the real question is: How can Massachusetts trust Scott Brown on these votes?
