I was sad to learn about Jennifer Graham’s unfortunate experience with organ music (“Save the church! (kill the organs),” Op-ed, Oct. 25). Perhaps the source of her problem is rooted in her comment about “wincing through” the music at “any poorly financed suburban parish.”
A well-maintained organ, appropriately matched to its surroundings and played by a talented organist, can produce a profound emotional and spiritual experience. I am fortunate to attend church in a community that has the desire and resources to provide high-quality organ accompaniment to worship in at least three of our local churches, including the Roman Catholic one.
