Protect beauty of the state from scourge of billboards

How many of us will have to make our protests to Governor Patrick before he decides not to allow Clear Channel to put up electronic billboards statewide?

These enormous signs would hide views of seasonal landscapes, beautiful skylines, bridges, treasured rivers, and parks, distracting us with obtrusive, glaring, blinking ads.

I invite Governor Patrick out to Oklahoma, to see how the landscape is blighted with billboards. On one stretch of road between Oklahoma City and Weatherford there are FORTY-FIVE billboards advertising one nasty business. Billboards are something that Ladybird Johnson fought -- and won. Patrick should do the same.
