How GOP can find its consituency

The Republican Party cannot keep using the word “conservative” to explain a party that regards government as appropriately intrusive in our private lives (pregnancy, marriage, contraception) and inappropriately withdrawn from our public lives (health, education, financial regulation).

When it becomes a party that discusses small government in terms of tax fairness and reform, limited and well-focused spending, effective regulation without excessive intrusion, and appropriate adjustment of entitlements to reflect balanced policies toward all our citizens (including minorities, immigrants, and single mothers), and one that stops talking about expanding government into our bedrooms, it will find a constituency.
