If President Obama is looking for a way to jump-start more consensus-building in Congress, one obvious step would be to ask both Senate party caucuses to select new leadership.
It was obvious in the recent “60 Minutes” interview with Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell that they will be hard pressed to even talk to each other, never mind finding consensus.

A reasonable suggestion, although the Senate, and the Parties for that matter, are independent of the President. More fitting would be to use the bully pulpit to remind the electorate that their Senators are the current source of acrimony.
