Sad to see governor rally behind Israel’s indefensible actions

As the daughter of Jewish refugees from Hitler, a longtime anti-apartheid activist, and an ardent supporter of Deval Patrick, I was upset to see that the governor was a featured speaker at Monday’s rally to support Israel at Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Chestnut Hill (“2,000 in Newton support Israel in its battle against Gaza militants,” Metro, Nov. 20). In the name of people like my parents, the Israeli government has been destroying Palestinian livelihoods, bulldozing homes, killing children, and bombing civilians for decades, all while claiming self-defense.

Israel’s occupation of Palestine is a violation of international law; Israel’s policies of separation, including a partition wall, have come to be recognized as apartheid by anti-apartheid leaders such as Desmond Tutu.

and when Hitler was murdering the jews it was alright for others to say nothing??? The Hamas are launching rockets into Israel...what part of that you do not understand...Nations must speak up against the terrorists who main goal is to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.....The Arab nations can pour billions into Gaza (did you see the new mall) but they will not because they want this choas.....Israel has the right to defend it self from these  bombs....

"Israel's policies of separation" are a strategy to protect itself. Hamas and other militant Muslims will never recognize or accept Israel's right to exist as a nation just as Adolf Hitler would never recognize a Jewish person's right to exist as a human being. Preceding this, it was not long ago when the Inquisitions prevailed in the western world. The persecutions and attempts to destroy Jews throughout recorded history is abominable. Israel must always be on guard to defend itself from an enemy who launches Iranian supplied rockets from nearby schools and hospitals (human shields) and uses suicide bombers to harm the general population as they go about their normal daily business. The current Hamas strategy is to manipulate the media in favor of their quest to draw Israel into a position as the aggressor.

This blogger must have been born yesterday. And like most anti-Israel activists can't be bothered to recall the history of Israel since its inception in 1948. Or even who started the 1967 wars and 1973 wars. And the 1972 PLO murders of 11 Israel athletes in Munich. Besides these she can't be bothered to recall that, before 1972, there was not only peace with Palestinians, many of them had day JOBS in Israel. The arrangement was mutually useful to both sides. (Of course, liberals complained that the Palestinians were paid less than Israelis. But the pay was still better than a job in Palestine, where there were no jobs. And there are STILL no productive jobs today in Palestine). But then radical Islamists couldn't stand for this arrangement. They turned Palestinian workers into SUICIDE BOMBERS. Israel had to fire them all and send them home. ..Bloggers like this one can't admit that it was the Palestinians who killed the Golden Goose.

Israel’s policies of separation, including a partition wall, have come to be recognized as apartheid by anti-apartheid leaders such as Desmond Tutu" APARTHEID?? This letter must have been originally written back in the 1950's then recopied for the Globe. Otherwise, if we want to be on the subject of Apartheid, perhaps this writer should question why she is a supporter of our racist governor ever Deval Patrick, and most likely a supporter of our most racist president ever, Barack Obama. Along with the media which continually makes a daily staple race and class warfare, similar to South Africa and Rhodesia in the 1950's.
