Offense at word ‘Christmas’ is itself offensive

Mike Luckovich’s Dec. 11 editorial cartoon (“If there’s a war on Christmas, Christmas is winning”) couldn’t be further from the truth. The fact is that merchants and the news media have joined forces to eliminate any mention of this Christian observance.

Look no further than inside the Globe’s Sports section last Tuesday, which invites readers to use Globe Santa “holiday” paper to wrap gifts in the “holiday” spirit. It used to be called the “Christmas spirit.”

"taking offense has become a cottage industry in this country." Yes, it is clear that you've been offended.

How did a religious observance become a legal holiday? Why just Christianity? Where's this in the Constitution?

Amen to that Jack,

Merry christmas to you and your family

Long before it was Christmas, it was known as the Winter Solstice. Christians aren't the only ones who have something to celebrate at this time of year.
