New armed guards at schools would foster the big government the NRA claims to fear

THE NATIONAL Rifle Association deliberated for an entire week after the Newtown tragedy, and their best response is a call for an armed guard in every public school (“The NRA’s extremist fantasy,” Editorial, Dec. 22).

If one extends this knee-jerk response to every shooting, then the NRA no doubt would be happy with armed police officers in every theater, shopping mall, etc. The long-term logical consequence of this argument is armed guards in every public space, just in case.

Contradiction? No. But the REAL Contradiction is the hypocracy of the Obama and Holder "Fast and Furious" GunRunning (actually Gun Walking) operation that sent high powered weapons to Mexican drug gangs. And the hypocracy of the media like the Globe for refusing to report the Congressional probe into the operation.

M6, you can improve your arguments considerably by just getting your spelling right, notably, in your post above: "hypocracy", which you've used twice, is not a word. The word you're looking for is "hypocrisy". See the difference? Now, I'm not just being an online grammar cop- I'm doing this for your own good! You see, proper spelling will help people to understand your arguments and your point-of-view. Try it and see!

The NRA's stance is absurd, and I wish I could find a contradiction, but they're not looking for armed police officers. Oh no. In an effort to stick to their fiscal conservatism, they're suggesting armed volunteers -- a prospect I find to be especially distressing.

Continue to spew your hate.   The NRA merely offered a solution.   You don;t want a solution, you merly want to blame anything but the cause.

So, Pat-state, you ignore the writer's point about inherent contradictions in the NRA's stance, and choose to interpret it as "hate-spewing". You're concerned that too many "hate" the NRA. Let me guess: you're not known for critical evaluation and analytical skills?

Wher does the NRA and fiscal conservatism come into play? A few here are confusing the NRA with political and social ideals.   The NRA is non-denominational, and actually does the most for the poorest part of ourt society.
