Edward J. Markey’s neighbor in Malden vouches for him

WITH REGARD to Scott Brown’s latest, far-fetched accusation levied at a political opponent (“Brown swipes at Markey’s residency,” Page A1, Jan. 3), all I can say is that Representative Edward J. Markey lives right across the street from me, and I had the pleasure of talking with him on his front porch about a week ago, before he left to go to bed.

That was just one of the many times I have run into him at his Malden home over the years. I am going on 50 years in the same house, and I've had the pleasure of seeing him regularly from day one.

you can't beat the source! Once again, Scott Brown shoots first, learns later that it doesn't matter to most voters, and in this case, is blatantly false.

The house was owned by Markey's parents. Markey used the address as his residence.  He bought the house when his parents died. The source never mentions talking to Markey's wife.

Hey Frank, nice piece: "one of the many times" and "regularly from day one.." give a nice impression without have to convey any facts. Would once a year for many years be "many times"?  If you said, "Markey's across the street every weekend..", or "he spends 10% of the year here..." or some comment with a number or a fact, your letter might be credible, or at least as credible as a reader feels you are.

But your vague statements sound like someone trying to create an image for which any facts would not support.

Thank you Mister Calhoun. Sounds like you may have gotten your degree at the old Boston State?

The question is not wheter Markey spent "all" his time in Malden, but whether he spend "any" time in Malden.
