letters | Patrick Proposes tax plan

This kind of thing can turn a Bay Stater into a Republican

RE Patrick pushes for tax hikes” (Page A1, Jan. 15): Just what Massachusetts needs: higher taxes, more fees, or both. This is all to pay for a transportation system that bleeds money.

How about a novel idea: Cut expenses at state and local levels instead of raising taxes.

Comments

Well Michael, if you voted for Patrick, warren, pay up. Next time pay closer attention to the lies you're fed. No comment yet from our dear new senator that campaigned on the middle class getting hammered, she got that right, except she was blaming the wrong party, opps.

Replies

Right! Warren kept saying the middle class had been hammered for the last four years - well who did the hammering?! And now it's only going to get worse. Be prepared for higher gas taxes, tolls, and fees on everything as well as higher income taxes. At least with the sales tax we culled some revenue from those who paid no income tax (on the dole, underground economy, etc).

The State allready have been cutting expences...

Patrick says the DOT is now managing projects so they finish on time and on budget. If so, we will see lots of savings to pay for repairs. I see so much money wasted on "nice to have" projects that just cutting those will save a bundle. Just think of the silly new mileage markers, excess guardrails, sound fences, etc.. We don't need to raise taxes until after we see savings resulting from the government actually start managing itself.

and those sound fences are so ugly! highway drives that used to be enjoyable for the trees are now just irritating, worse when we consider the expense. so many of them seem unnecessary, I've often thought they're just gifts to the unions.

Actually, didn't vote for Patrick, but did vote for Warren for senator.

Again, I repeat. To all you legislators reading this. Patrick is gone in two years. If you want to keep your job stop this insanity in it's tracks. We will work for, contribute to and vote for anti tax candidates. Enough is enough.
