Tax ‘burden’? Consider a different word

In featuring a heading over a chart outlining Governor Patrick’s revenue proposal with the words “Average Tax Burden by Income Level,” you sent the message that taxes are bad (“Patrick would hike one tax, cut another,” Page A1, Jan. 17). Who in their right mind would be in favor of a burden? Mentioning taxes and burden in the same phrase just serves to reinforce stereotypes that taxes are to be avoided.

Governor Patrick outlined how increased revenues would pay for public services that we depend on. Please don’t undermine his plan by referring to taxes as a burden.

As someone who works for a living, and has always worked, never been on the dole, never had a hack job or a thugger.. These taxes are most DEFINITELY a burden. Only trust-fund liberals and those that don't pay taxes can see them as anything other than a BURDEN. Example... raising the income tax doesn't affect a EBT card user...as they don't work and have no income. However, lowering the sales tax lets them buy more on their EBT card. As someone who works for a living and gets paid weekly....my income sees a significant cut, which FAR exceeds the small reduction in the sales tax. Low-Information voters.... you voted for this guy (and the one in the big white house)...you've got no one to blame but yourself!

this is probably the dumbest letter ever posted....everybody uses the term tax "burden"...it's standard throughout business...and the globe actually printed this?

"Average Tax _______ by Income Level"  And what word fills in the blank?

Could it be we have finally found a fact that a liberal cannot twist into something that sounds like what it isn't?
