Another sign of patronage habit in Bay State government

Your Jan. 31 editorial about the governor’s disappointing interim appointment of William “Mo” Cowan to the Senate was right on (“In naming top aide to Senate, Patrick lessens state’s clout”). I only wish that it had drawn a sharper connection between this appointment and Governor Patrick’s embrace of patronage and crony hiring during his six years in office.

As a recently retired state employee, I can assure you that the governor’s appointment of Sheila Burgess to be director of highway safety was only the tip of the iceberg. These appointees are all over state government, and even for those of us in the governor’s liberal base, they are nothing short of disgusting.

and yet you still vote for him, no wonder politics is corrupt, it's because of people like you.

You bet! Deval Patrick played the good-ole-insider game, in the same manner as previous Democrat governors.

The only Gov. who sought and appointed well qualified people, regardless of color or political affiliation was Governor Mitt Romney. But the foolish electorate got bamboozled by the false accusations of the Democratic machine and repeated for months by the media. The country's loss and the only game is more corrupt politics.
