Aid producers by growing audience

I FOUND it very upsetting to read the proposals of state representatives Nick Collins and Paul McMurtry to give away up to $3 million to seduce producers of pre-Broadway shows to come to Boston for tryouts (“A Boston tryout a show could bank on,” Metro, Feb. 3). That would be like flushing money down the toilet.

If the lawmakers really want to encourage more of these bookings, how about offering vouchers for reduced parking to theatergoers, reduced-cost T fares, and a break on meals taxes at local restaurants with every paid admission?
