Bids to revamp Question 3 subverts voters’ will

Your editorial page lends support to state Senator John Keenan’s thinly varnished attempt to subvert the will of 63 percent of Massachusetts’ voters who favor medical marijuana (“State should assign marijuana from warehouses, not stores,” Editorial, 2/7).

Keenan states a concern that the law runs afoul of federal law as one reason for his bill. He would limit cultivation to 10 large sites. Wouldn’t that pose an inviting challenge to federal prosecutors looking to make 10 busts?

Everybody knows that the majority of the marijuana will be for recreational use, not for medicsl use. Why do suppose it got voter approval anyway?

Our history has us taught that prohibition does not work. It leads to criminal activity and makes it difficult for people to get the help they need. Of course there are problems with drug use. Why make it worse by turning people into criminals? Lets regulate and educate and have the state reap some of the money.

It appears that the Not In My Backyard principle is in full effect on this topic.

Legalize it. Tax it. People want it. It used to be legal.

If truly for Medical use, dispense it through drug stores. They are used to handling things like this.

Nah, the voters do not know what they want!  Keep it illegal.  It is better that way, the drug cartels need to make a living somehow, afterall, they are just poor mexicans trying to get by.  Plus, it keeps the gun crime way up, so that way the legislators can pass more gun laws making people think they are actually doing something.  Why fix a problem when political capital can be made?

Massachusetts ignores the people's will. Again.

I believe we voted for lower taxes too. How'd that vote work out?
