A word or two for BU

What a disappointment to hear that my alma mater, Boston University, dropped an obvious requirement for entrance to the university: the ability to write (Page A1, March 2).

Kelly Walter, executive director of admissions at BU, states that one reason for dropping the second supplemental essay requirement was that “the responses, sadly, were very generic.”

Apparently, Junior’s struggle to communicate is irrelevant as long as Mommy and Daddy have the ability to pay.
